My favorite video of a Journey of Gratitude session was the talk of Thomas S. Monson, "An
Attitude of Gratitude." It was inspirational. The book of Luke is one of
my favorites, and I remember chapter 17 when Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy;
that is an excellent lesson of gratitude and kindness from our Lord Jesus
Christ. It is essential to try a lot, make an effort to follow his steps, and
become a better person. His example always lives in my heart. When President
Monson said that like leprosy, today's plagues, they are found everywhere, and
we know them as selfishness, greed, indulgence, cruelty, and crime, to identify
but a few. Surfeited with their poison, we tend to criticize, complain, blame,
and, slowly but surely, abandon the positives and adopt the negatives of life.
I feel so sad for
everything that it is going on nowadays, there is so much evil everywhere,
sometimes I forget the good things about life. My husband always watches the
news; honestly, I wouldn't say I like it. It makes me feel depressed. It
doesn't sound very wise, but it is true. I don't need a reminder of what is
wrong. I need motivation and hope that there still are good people in the
world, that it is what I want to remember all the time. Like President Monson
said, " We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to
remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an
attitude of gratitude."
Avoid the Wrong Job was a
good lesson too. Stan Christensen talked about how people end up in the wrong
career, which happened to me. This situation was my case because I did
precisely was he was explaining: "don't do things because you think it's
what other people want you to do." I wish I could have these lectures
early in my life, but I can still learn from them.
