W02 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal
I liked this week's
lessons from my Entrepreneur Class. I cannot stop thinking about one of the
videos, "Do what you love." And I thought, "yes, that is what I
want," but want I love? How difficult it is to know what you want to do
with your life. Is normal for someone in their thirties something to be in that
position? Maybe in a few years, I am going to able to respond to that question.
I know I want to be my own boss, financial freedom, time to do what I like with
my family. All this leads me to the conclusion that I need to have my own
business. The video explains a theory about three circles, "The Hedgehog
Concept" by Jim Collins. Is based on three questions:
- What are you deeply passionate about?
- What can you be the best in the
world at?
- What drives your economic
engine?
Simple questions,
complicated answers that make you think a lot! "A simple, crystalline
concept that flows from deep understanding about the intersection of three
circles," said Collins.
Another video that
stood me off was effective choices, no longer days. "You can be effective
without having to work hard." And part of that lesson is that success is
not necessarily just about working hard; it is about making the right choices,
the right decisions." I love the story about how Nokia used to make rubber
boats, and someone makes a smarter decision to change the course of the
company.
Elder Joseph B.
Wirthlin Of the Council of the Twelve said, "The question is not one of
managing time, but one of managing ourselves with the time we have. The
so-called little things are significant if we are to gain eternal life."
It makes you ponder and think about the relationship with ourselves, others,
and God. He asks us to pay attention to the little things and learn to care for
our health and mental well-being. Regarding our relationship with others, we
need to follow the example of Jesus Christ and remember to be kind, smile, help
others. Our desired to build spiritual qualities will help us to be closer to
our Heavenly Father.
I absolutely love
"The Formula of Happiness" Lesson. I knew about Paul Jetty a few
years ago when I saw a movie about a group who kidnapped Paul's Jettys
grandson. I like movies based on real histories. So this successful icon had a
traditional formula of three steps to be happy:
- Get up early
- Word hard.
- Find your oil.
The explanation of
each element made a lot of sense for me; it was obvious. "Early bird gets
the worm"; whoever arrives firsts has the best chance of success; some
opportunities are only available to the first competitors. Work hard. from the
time of father Adam; he was commanded to work with the sweat of thy brow."
And lastly, find your oil: find an idea, service, or product that multiplies
your skills or talents. With these steps, you feel you can conquer the world,
but I thought, where is the spiritual approach is?. That is why David B. Haight
add tree more steps: Get your education, get trained. Make your mark, used your
education and training to be good at something. Prepared to serve, we need to
give back and help others. I really like this formula; It makes you think about
all the elements in your life. It can be overwhelming, not easy, but I believe
you can work it out if you want good results. When you have a family, you can't
only think about yourself; it is about those around you.
