03 Reflection: Entrepreneurial Journal
I absolutely love "A Hero's
Journey" video! It was super inspirational; it reflects that we need to
believe that we have an extraordinary mission on this earth. I was surprised
when I learned that we mainly need perseverance and consistency rather than talent
or skills. A "mission that will succeed beyond your wildest dreams, but
only if you have the faith and courage to find that entrepreneurial
calling.", this blows my mind. We forget that we have a purpose of
accomplishing it. If I feel lost in the track, what it helps me is to read my
patriarchal blessing. So, what does it mean to choose a hero's journey? It
means to live every moment of your life like it matters because it does. That
makes me feel so good. I like when he talks about to find great role models and
ask them great questions. I compare this with my kids. They asked about
everything because I am their role model and they hunger for knowledge. We need
to be more like kids; we are so ashamed to asked questions that we prefer to
say like that without answers.
Another thing that stood me up was
when the speaker talked about the things that we enjoy. "How do you find
something that brings you great joy? The secret to this is what psychologists
call 'flow.' Try this: think of the last time you lost track of time while
doing something. Something that you would practice merely for the sake of
practice alone. Something that could become a lifelong discipline that you are
committed to master. "I think the last time I lost track while doing
something was when I used to paint. That brings me a lot of good memories.
When I was a teenager, my mother
enrolled me in a course to paint figurines and to learn different techniques
for painting. The class was held in a small shop where they used to sell their
art: figurines and canvas, home decor for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's
Day, etc. I remember that I was the youngest, I was with only with ladies who
would go there to light up and relax. Although they were not the same age as
me, I had a great time and laughed a lot with those ladies. I learned a lot and
spent years in that shop where they also taught painting. This is one of the
best memories I have. I would like to have that feeling of calm again to
release stress. We indeed have to do what we love, not only to find peace but
also to balance the responsibilities of life.
To Change is to Learn and to Learn is
to Change. We never should stop learning; I learned this from my father. As I
have mentioned previously, my father is a doctor and has several university
degrees, masters, and doctorates. Due to his profession, my father always has
to be up to date and never stops learning. He reads a lot about many things,
and he taught that to me. That is why I love to read. I would be happy if I
lived in a library. I hope I can instill this in my children, the love of
reading, and all the knowledge that I am acquiring today. One of my greatest
achievements in life is that my children are successful but also happy.
And to conclude, I have to say:
Mastery is not about perfection. It is about the process. Practice, practice,
and practice that is all we must do to mastery or skills. And yes, at first, we
need to fall and look bad because we are learning. The beginner's mind is
required to learn anything new.
